Diamond Studs
If you haven't noticed, diamond platinum earrings are currently more popular than gold. In fact, platinum in general is more popular than gold. I was so used to seeing gold wedding rings as I was growing up that the first time I saw a platinum ring, I didn't think it was a real wedding ring! I thought everyone had to have gold. Isn't it funny, the things we think when we're little?
I did notice Diamond Platinum Earrings when I was young, though. I didn't know that's what they were exactly, but the shininess always attracted me to them. Where does this mesmerizing metal come from? The earth, yes, but how long ago was it discovered? Have you ever asked yourself these questions? Well, platinum was popular back in ancient Egypt, not only for jewelry, but also for other uses due to the metal's strength and high melting temperature.
Where Diamond Platinum Earrings Came From
Platinum first started to get its name from Spanish explorers. They came to the new world looking for gold and found platinum along with it. They started calling this white metal "platina" meaning "little silver." Unfortunately, they considered it practically worthless. However, having a great king declare the importance of this metal certainly did a lot for platinum.
That's exactly what happened. King Louis XVI of France said that platinum was the "metal of kings." Being that this is the same king who built the luxurious-to-the-point-of-gaudy Versailles, people believed him. He was quite right. Not that platinum was just fit for kings, but that it was more precious than anyone believed. When you wear diamond platinum earrings and you know the history of platinum, you feel not only beautiful, but royal as well.
